Milwaukee County home sales still risingThe Business Journal of Milwaukee Milwaukee County recorded its fifth straight month of rising home sales, the Greater Milwaukee Association of Realtors said Thursday. Citing housing statistics released by Metro MLS Inc. the association said Milwaukee County registered an 11.5 percent increase for August 2009 over August 2008. Metropolitan Milwaukee, consisting of Milwaukee, Waukesha, Washington and Ozaukee counties, saw its third straight month of positive sales activity with a 3.3 percent gain. The association said reduced prices are drawing buyers into the market and new home buyers are taking advantage of the federal $8,000 homebuyer tax credit. Interest rates are also at historic lows, making home purchases more attractive.
